Assistant Director; Career Advisor, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director include but are not limited to advising students and alumni regarding appropriate career and job search strategies; coordinating application, referral, placement and monitoring activities for experiential education students; conducting employer development activities; actively participating on assigned teams; and providing workshops and classroom presentations concerning career planning and job search topics. Some evening and weekend work is required. The Assistant Director works with SCC staff, employers, other University units and reports to the Executive Director of the Smith Career Center.
Candidates must possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication (verbal and written) skills; ability to demonstrate respect and sensitivity for cultural and age diversity; and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel. The successful candidate must be very detail-oriented, possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. A master’s degree is required upon start of the position. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in career services, student affairs, or a related field. Must be able to access non-ADA compliant buildings and possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
